The Gouden(=Golden) Spike meeting has a history going back to the early sixties and is one of the Top Meetings in The Netherlands. It’s current status is Challenger in the World Athletics Continental Tour 2025.
The venue of club Leiden Atletiek has 8 lanes. It is located close to the Leiden Central Train station which is only one stop from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport.
It’s a tradition that the best performance of the meeting – according to an independent jury – is awarded with the Gouden Spike and extra bonus.
