Statistikk og historikk

Harald Østberg Amundsen
 Harald Østberg Amundsen (1,109) leads the World Cup distance standings
coming into Minneapolis. He recorded more podium finishes in distance
events than any other man this season (7, Erik Valnes follows on 5).
 Amundsen finished on the podium in five of the seven individual World Cup
distance freestyle events this season, with the exceptions being a fifth
place in Val di Fiemme (Tour de Ski) and a fourth place in Goms.
 Amundsen can become the first man to record six individual World Cup
distance podium finishes in freestyle events in a single season since
Alexander Bolshunov (6 in 2019/20).
 Amundsen achieved three of his four individual World Cup distance wins in
freestyle events, most recently in Toblach on 1 January (Tour de Ski 20km
freestyle pursuit).
Other contenders
 The World Cup visits Minneapolis for the first time. The previous men’s
World Cup events in the United States have been held in Anchorage
(1982/83), Fairbanks (1983/84), Biwabik (1985/86) and Salt Lake City
(1989/90, 2000/01).
 The men’s World Cup distance events in United States have been won by:
Gunde Svan (1983, 1984, 1985), Bjørn Dæhlie (1989) and Johann
Mühlegg (two in 2001)
 Nine different men have won an individual World Cup distance event this
season. The last season in which more than nine different men won
individual WC distance events was in 2018/19 (10).
 Pål Golberg won the most recent World Cup distance event, in Canmore
(20km classic). Including his win in the 10km freestyle in Gällivare, Golberg
has now secured two distance event wins this season, one short of his best
tally of three in 2022/23.
 Golberg can become the third man to win successive World Cup distance
events this season, following Johannes Høsflot Klæbo (16 and 17
December) and Harald Østberg Amundsen (1 and 4 January).
 Simen Hegstad Krüger recorded his first individual World Cup distance
win of this season in the 15km freestyle event in Canmore, making this the
first season in which seven different men from a single country have won
individual WC distance events.
 Johannes Høsflot Klæbo (23) is joint-fifth alongside Petter Northug (23) in
the all-time men’s list of individual World Cup distance event wins. Bjørn
Dæhlie (45), Vladimir Smirnov (30), Gunde Svan (30) and Alexander
Bolshunov (24) make up the top four.
Jan Thomas Jenssen won the opening World Cup distance event in the
freestyle this season (Ruka, 26 November), but recorded only one podium
finish in freestyle distance events since (3rd in Toblach on 1 January).
 Norwegian men have won 32 of the last 34 individual World Cup distance
events. The exceptions were Perttu Hyvärinen’s win in Toblach on 31
December (10km classic style) and Jules Lapierre’s win in Val di Fiemme
on 7 January (10km freestyle climb).
 Friedrich Moch finished in the top-10 in each of his last five participations
in World Cup distance events in the freestyle. This season, only Amundsen
(7) and Krüger (5) recorded as many top-10’s in WC distance freestyle
events.
 Mika Vermeulen finished third in the last World Cup distance event in the
freestyle (15km, Canmore), marking his best result in the World Cup. The
two Austrian men to have won WC distance events are Mikhail Botvinov
(two in 1998/99) and Christian Hoffmann (two in 2003/04).
