Final Stage
 Since its introduction in 2006/07, the Tour de Ski has concluded every year
with the Alpe Cermis hill climb in Val di Fiemme.
 In 14 of the previous 17 editions of the Tour de Ski, the leader ahead of the
final stage went on to win the overall Tour de Ski title that season.
 Only Petter Northug in 2009/10 (8.3 seconds), Dario Cologna in 2012/13
(6.5 seconds) and Johannes Høsflot Klæbo in 2019/20 (1 second) failed to
maintain their lead in the final stage of the Tour de Ski. Cologna and
Northug finished second in the overall. Klæbo dropped to third place.
 All previous 17 winners of the Tour de Ski were in the overall top two at the
start of the final event. Lukáš Bauer in 2009/10, Alexander Legkov in
2012/13 and Alexander Bolshunov in 2019/20 all started the final stage in
second position overall and went on to win the Tour de Ski.
 In 2018/19, Klæbo won the overall Tour de Ski 16.7 seconds ahead of
runner-up Sergey Ustiugov, the smallest gap between the overall winner
and the runner-up in competition’s history (excluding 2014/15 – Martin
Johnsrud Sundby stripped of title).
 The biggest winning margin in history of the Tour de Ski is 3:23.9 by
Bolshunov in 2020/21 (ahead of runner-up Maurice Manificat).
Norway
 Coming into this weekend, Norwegian cross-country skiers occupy all
podium spots in the overall standings of the Tour de Ski. In the previous 17
Tour de Ski tournaments, only on two occasions has a country achieved a
clean sweep in the overall standings: Norway in 2013/14 and 2022/23.
 Johannes Høsflot Klæbo won the overall Tour de Ski in 2021/22 and
2022/23. Norway can win three successive Tour de Ski tournaments for the
second time, after a run of three between 2013/14, 2014/15 and 2015/2016
(Martin Johnsrud Sundby 2x, Petter Northug 1x).
 Harald Østberg Amundsen can become the fourth Norwegian skier to win
the men’s Tour de Ski, after Johannes Høsflot Klæbo (3), Sundby (2) and
Northug (1). Russia is the only other country to have at least three different
winners of the overall Tour de Ski: Alexander Bolshunov (2), Alexander
Legkov and Sergey Ustiugov.
 Amundsen finished 11th in the final stage in his first Tour de Ski (2021/22),
which resulted in a ninth place in the overall standing. Amundsen did not
compete in last season’s Tour de Ski.
 Simen Hegstad Krüger (2019/20 and 2022/23) can become the first man
to win the Alpe Cermis hill climb three times. Sjur Røthe (2018/2019 and
2021/22) is the only other active male skier to have won this stage, but he
will not participate in the Tour de Ski this season.
Krüger finished third in the overall standing in the 2018/19 Tour de Ski and
second in last season’s edition. He is the only skier to claim at least two
podiums in the overall standings, without ever winning the Tour de Ski
tournament.
 Coming into this weekend, Henrik Dønnestad and Martin Løwstrøm
Nyenget are tied in second place in the overall standings, even though
both have failed to win a stage this tournament. The last overall winner who
did not win a stage in that season was Alexander Legkov in 2012/13.
 Nyenget, who is 31 years and 281 days old on the day of the final stage,
can become the third-oldest overall winner of the Tour de Ski, after Lukáš
Bauer (32y-145d) and Dario Cologna (31y-302d).
Other contenders
 Hugo Lapalus can become the second french man to finish on the podium
of the Tour de Ski overall standings, after Maurice Manificat in 2020/21
(2nd).
 Jules Lapierre finished third in the final stage of last season’s Tour de Ski,
behind Krüger and Hans Christer Holund. He can become the second
French man to win the final climb of the Tour de Ski, after Maurice
Manificat in 2016/2017.
 Coming into this weekend, Lucas Chanavat leads the points standings. He
can become the first French skier to win the overall sprint/points
classification of the Tour de Ski.
 Friedrich Moch can become the first German man to finish on the podium
of the Tour de Ski overall since 2009 (Axel Teichmann 3rd).
 Beda Klee could become the second Swiss man to finish on the podium of
the Tour de Ski overall, after Dario Cologna (record 7 podium finishes,
most recently 1st in 2017/18).

Om «Monsterbakken» – Alpe Cermis

Siste etappe avsluttes opp slalåmbakken i Cavalese. Den ligger i fjellet Alpe Cermis, 2250 moh., og er den bratteste motbakken som noen gang er tatt med i verdenscupen i langrenn. Etappen går i fristil. Hele etappen er ti kilometer lang, mens selve bakken er 3,6 kilometer.

Utøverne klatrer 420 meter i høyde, med gjennomsnittlig stigning på 11,6 prosent og en maksimal helling på 28 prosent.

I slalåmbakken blir det plassert porter, som utøverne følger opp gjennom bakken. Disse går i svinger, så utøverne går ikke korteste vei til toppen. Etappen ble de 13 første tourene avholdt med jaktstart med startintervall etter sammenlagtstillingen etter foregående etapper. Dersom dette førte til for store tidsmessige avstander kunne juryen velge å bruke en «bølgestart».

I det første året av Tour De Ski (2006/2007) vurderte flere utøvere, blant annet en rekke norske, å legge feller på skiene når de kom inn i bakken. Dette satte FIS en stopper for på kvelden før etappen.

I de 13 første utgavene av Tour de Ski ble etappen avviklet med jaktstart slik at første person i mål også var vinner av touren sammenlagt. I 2019 ble det innført fellesstart på denne etappen.
