Om rennene

Kvinner

● Ruka has hosted a Cross-Country World Cup stage in each season since 2002/03, and has
hosted the World Cup season opener since the 2013/14 season onwards.
● Jessie Diggins (USA) is the only active athlete with more than 20 World Cup wins, as she
has won 25 individual World Cup races. The record is held by Marit Bjoergen (NOR) who won
60 World Cup races during her career, between 2002/03 and 2017/18.
● Jessie Diggins (USA) has won the last two Overall titles. If she wins the Overall title again
this season, it would be her fourth Overall title, placing her just behind Elena Vaelbe
Trubitsina (RUS), who has won five titles between 1988/89 and 1996/97.
● Jessie Diggins (USA) has also won the last two Distance titles. If she wins the Distance title
again this season, it would be her fourth Distance title, placing her just behind Therese
Johaug (NOR), who has won five titles, and tied with Justyna Kowalczyk (POL).
● Jasmi Joensuu (FIN) won the Sprint World Cup title in 2024/25; this was her first World
Cup title. She did not win an individual race across the season and was on the podium in just
one Sprint race, a second place in Toblach.
● Frida Karlsson (SWE) won the 10km Interval Start Classic race last year in Ruka, ahead of
Therese Johaug (NOR) and Astrid Oeyre Slind (NOR). This was one of Karlsson’s two wins
last season, the other one coming in the Les Rousses’ 20km Mass Start Classic.
● Johanna Hagstroem (SWE) won the Sprint Classic race last year in Ruka, ahead of Julie
Myhre (NOR) and Maja Dahlqvist (SWE). This was Hagstroem’s first World Cup win in her
career. It was the first ever World Cup individual podium also for Myhre, and that second
place is her best World Cup result in her career so far.
● Jessie Diggins (USA) won the 20km Mass Start Free last year in Ruka, ahead of Jonna
Sundling (SWE) and Heidi Weng (NOR). This was Diggins’ first out of six World Cup wins last
season.
● Anne Kyllonen (FIN) will compete in the 19th World Cup season of her career, having
debuted in 2007/08. She has 367 starts in World Cup races, with 17 podiums and two wins,
both in Team Sprint.

Menn

● Ruka has hosted a Cross-Country World Cup stage in each season since 2002/03, and has
hosted the World Cup season opener since the 2013/14 season onwards.
● Johannes Hoesflot Klaebo (NOR) can become the first male athlete with more than 100
individual World Cup wins by the end of this season. He currently has 98, which is more than
double that of the athlete with the second-most wins, his countryman Bjoern Daehlie (NOR),
who has 46.
● Johannes Hoesflot Klaebo (NOR) holds the record for most wins in a single season: he had
won 19 World Cup race wins in the 2022/23 season. He won 16 World Cup races in the
2023/24 season, which is the second highest number of World Cup wins in a single season.
● Johannes Hoesflot Klaebo (NOR) also holds the record for most podiums in a single season:
he was on the podium in 23 World Cup races in the 2022/23 season.
● Simen Hegstad Krueger (NOR) won the Distance World Cup title in the 2024/25 season;
this was his first World Cup title.
● Johannes Hoesflot Klaebo (NOR) has won a record of seven Sprint World Cup titles,
including the last three. No other male athlete has more than three Sprint World Cup titles.
● Johannes Hoesflot Klaebo (NOR) has won the Overall World Cup title five times between
2017/18 and 2024/25 season. If he wins the 2025/26 Overall title, he will equal his
countryman Bjoern Daehlie (NOR), who currently holds the record with six Overall titles
between 1991/92 and 1998/99. Klaebo is currently tied with Gunde Svan (SWE) with five
titles. No other active athlete has more than two Overall titles.
● Home athlete Iivo Niskanen (FIN) won the 10km Interval Start Classic race last year in Ruka,
ahead of Harald Oestberg Amundsen (NOR) and Martin Loewstroem Nyenget (NOR). This
was one of Niskanen’s two wins last season, with the other one coming in Falun.
● After Iivo Niskanen (FIN) won the opening race of the 2024/25 season on November 29,
Norway went on to win the following 16 World Cup races. No other non-Norwegian athlete
won a World Cup race until January 18.
● Johannes Hoesflot Klaebo (NOR) won the Sprint Classic race last year in Ruka, ahead of
Erik Valnes (NOR) and Lauri Vuorinen (FIN). This was Klaebo’s first of 13 World Cup wins last
season. It was the second career podium for Vuorinen, who had one second place in the
previous season.
