Statistikk og historikk

Overall World Cup
 Before the start of this event, the skiers can still collect a maximum of 230
points for the overall crystal globe: 100 points for the 10km classic and 130
points for the 20km mass start (including bonus points).
 Jessie Diggins can win the overall World Cup for the second time, after
2020/21. She is already the only non-European woman to claim the overall
crystal globe.
 Linn Svahn can win her first overall crystal globe. Her best result in the
overall World Cup classification was a seventh place in 2020/21.
 Svahn can become the first Swedish woman to win the overall crystal
globe. Marie-Helene Östlund finished second in 1987/1988, behind only
Marjo Matikainen.
 Svahn (24y-99d on 17 March) can become the second-youngest woman
this century to win the overall crystal globe, after Julia Tchepalova in
2000/01 (24y-91d).
Distance crystal globe
 Jessie Diggins (1,413) comes into Falun on top of the distance standings.
Diggins is currently 77 points ahead of a group of three skiers, who are
ranked within 30 points of each other: Ebba Andersson (1,236) in second,
Victoria Carl (1,234) in third and Frida Karlsson (1,207) in fourth.
 Diggins has won the distance classification once before, in 2020/21. She
could join Therese Johaug (5), Justyna Kowalczyk (4), Marit Bjørgen (3),
Heidi Weng (2) and Virpi Kuitunen (2) on multiple distance crystal globes.
 Diggins is already the only non-European woman to have claimed the
distance crystal globe.
 Andersson and Karlsson could both become the first Swedish skier to win
the distance standings (men’s or women’s). They have both finished
second in the distance standings before, in 2020/21 (Andersson) and
2021/22 (Karlsson).
 Carl could win Germany’s first-ever distance crystal globe in the women’s
World Cup. The best ranking in the distance standings by a German
woman is fifth, achieved by Evi Sachenbacher-Stehle in 2005/06 and
Claudia Nystad in 2007/08.
Frida Karlsson
 Frida Karlsson (3) is one of two women who have won multiple individual
distance events in the classic style this World Cup season, alongside Kerttu
Niskanen (2). Karlsson triumphed in the 20km mass start events in Oberhof
(20 January) and Canmore (11 February), and in the 50km in Oslo (9
March).
 Karlsson (3) is the first woman since Therese Johaug (5 in 2019/20) to
record more than two individual World Cup victories in classic style
distance events in a single season.
 No Swedish woman has won as many individual World Cup distance
events as Karlsson (10). She surpassed Charlotte Kalla (9) after her victory
in Oslo last week.
 Karlsson can become the second Swedish woman to win an individual
World Cup classic distance event on home snow, after Linn Svahn won the
10km in Falun on 30 January 2021.
Kerttu Niskanen
 Kerttu Niskanen (2) is one of two women, alongside Frida Karlsson (3), to
have won multiple individual classic style distance events this World Cup
season. She triumphed in the 10km in Toblach (31 December) and the
20km in Davos (4 January), both in the Tour de Ski. ·
 Among active skiers, no woman has won as many individual World Cup
10km classic style events as Niskanen: six victories, including in Falun on
17 March 2023.
 Only Karlsson (5) has recorded as many individual podiums in World Cup
classic distance event this season as Niskanen (5).
 Among Finnish women, only Virpi Kuitunen (30), Marja-Liisa Kirvesniemi
(11) and Marjo Matikainen (8) have won as many individual World Cup
events as Niskanen (7).
Other contenders
 This women’s World Cup event will be held for the 12th time in Falun.
There was a different winner in each of the previous 11 editions.
 No woman has won as many individual World Cup distance events this
season as Jessica Diggings (5). She claimed each of the five victories in
the freestyle.
 Diggins already won two distance events on Swedish snow earlier this
season, 10km freestyle events in Gällivare (2 December) and Östersund
(10 December). Elena Välbe (3 in 1994/95) is the only skier that has won
distance events at three different Swedish venues in a single season.
 Linn Svahn is the only Swedish woman to have won an individual World
Cup classic style distance event on home snow. She triumphed in the
10km in Falun on 30 January 2021.
 Svahn participated in three World Cup 10km classic style events this
season, but failed to finish in the top eight in all of them (ninth in Ruka and
Toblach, 11th in Trondheim).
Krista Pärmäkoski won the 20km classic style in Lahti on 2 March, her
first individual win in the World Cup since a win in the 10km classic style in
Falun on 17 March 2018.
 Pärmäkoski can become the first woman to win this World Cup event at
least two times in Falun.
