Canmore).

classic style distance events was Therese Johaug in January-February
2020 (run of four). Johaug’s fourth win in that streak was in Lahti.
 Johaug (5 in 2019/20) was the last woman to record more than two
individual World Cup victories in the classic style in a single season.
 Only Marit Bjørgen (8) and Stefania Belmondo (7) won as many individual

 Among Swedish women, only Charlotte Kalla (9) has won as many
individual World Cup distance events as Karlsson (9).
Kerttu Niskanen
 Kerttu Niskanen (2) is one of two women, alongside Frida Karlsson, to have
won multiple individual classic style distance events this World Cup
season. She triumphed in Toblach (31 December) and Davos (4 January),
both in the Tour de Ski.
 Johaug (5 in 2019/20) was the last woman to record more than two
individual World Cup victories in classic style distance events in a single
season.
 Among Finnish women, only Virpi Kuitunen (30), Kirvesniemi (11) and
Marjo Matikainen (8) have won as many individual World Cup events as
Niskanen (7).
 All seven of Niskanen’s individual World Cup wins were in classic style
events. Iivo Niskanen, Kerttu’s brother, also claimed all his eight wins in
classic style events.
 Niskanen’s only individual World Cup podium finish in Finland is a third
place in the 10km pursuit classic style in Ruka on 29 November 2015. Her
best results in Lahti were two fourth places.
 The last Finnish woman to finish first in an individual World Cup event on
Finnish snow was Krista Pärmäkoski, who won the 10km classic style in
Lahti on 4 March 2018. Niskanen finished fourth that day.
Other contenders
 Each of the last 25 individual World Cup events held in Finland were won
by a woman from either Norway (15) or Sweden (10), since Yulia Stupak’s
victory in the sprint classic style in Ruka on 24 November 2018.
 Linn Svahn (won 10km and 15km classic style events) can become the
first woman to win a 10km, 15km and 20km classic style event in the World
Cup.
 Katharina Hennig finished on the podium in two of the last four World Cup
20km events in the classic style. She finished third in Lahti (March 2023)
and second in Oberhof (January 2024).
 Hennig can become the first German woman to win a 20km classic style
World Cup event. She claimed her only individual World Cup victory in the
15km classic in the Tour de Ski on 7 January 2023.

to win an individual World Cup distance event in the classic style. Her best

as the leader in both the overall and distance standings.
 Anne Kjersti Kalvå claimed her (to date) only career individual World Cup
victory in the 20km classic style in Lahti last season, on 26 March 2023.
Her best individual finish since then is a seventh place in the 10km
freestyle in Östersund on 10 December 2023.
