Norway
 Norway has won 15 of the last 17 women’s relay events in the World Cup,
with as exceptions a third place behind Russia (1st) and Sweden (2nd) in
Lillehammer on 5 December 2021 and a fourth place in Gällivare earlier
this season on 3 December.
 The last time Norway failed to win back-to-back women’s relay events in
the World Cup, was back in 2008-2009. Norway finished third in La Clusaz
on 7 December 2008 (Finland won) and second in Beitostølen on 22
November 2009 (Sweden won).
 Not since 2001 have there been successive women’s relay events in the
World Cup without a Norwegian team on the podium. Back then, no
Norwegian team finished on the podium in Soldier Hollow on 13 January
2001 and Kuopio on 27 November 2001.
 Since the start of 2010, Norway took the win in 18 of the 21 women’s World
Cup relay distance events. The exceptions were Italy’s win in Rybinsk on 6
February 2011, Russia’s win in Lillehammer on 5 December 2021 and
Sweden’s win in Gällivare earlier this season on 3 December
 Norway won three of the previous four women’s relay World Cup events
hosted by Germany (including East and West Germany), with the exception
East Germany’s win in Klingenthal on 15 January 1986. The most recent
relay event on German snow was held in Klingenthal on 13 January 1991.
Norway finished ahead of Germany and Italy that day.
 Heidi Weng featured in each of Norway’s last 12 relay wins in the World
Cup. A run that started after she was part of Norway’s 2nd relay team that
finished fourth in Gällivare in November 2012 (Norway’s 1st team won).
Other contenders
 Sweden won the women’s relay World Cup event in Gällivare earlier this
season on 3 December. It was Sweden’s first win in a women’s relay event
in the World Cup since a win in Beitostølen on 22 November 2009.
 Sweden can become the first country other than Norway to win back-toback women’s relay World Cup events since Germany in January-March
2003.
 Italy won the women’s relay event in Rybinsk on 6 February 2011, after
which Norway (15), Russia (1) and Sweden (1) won the next 17 women’s
relay events in the World Cup.
 Finland finished on the podium in 11 of the last 17 women’s World Cup
relay events: six second places and five third places. Finland’s last relay
win in the women’s World Cup came in La Clusaz on 7 December 2008.
 Germany last won a women’s relay World Cup event in Falun on 25 March
2007. Germany finished third in Gällivare earlier this season on 3
December.
