Spillere Global Chess League

Six teams will compete in the second season of the Global Chess League. Each team consists of six players, with at least two women and one junior player (born in 2003 or later).

Format

The event consists of a preliminary group stage and a final contested by the top two teams. In each match, players of the same team play with the same color. All games are in the 15+10 time control.

Teams Composition

  • Teams feature six players
  • The highest-rated player is called the «Icon» and plays on board 1
  • Teams must have two men playing on boards 2 and 3
  • Teams must have two women playing on boards 4 and 5
  • Teams must have at least one junior (born in 2003 or later)  playing on board 6
  • Teams must maintain a fixed order of players throughout the tournament

Preliminary Stage

  • Teams compete in a double round-robin
  • Time control: 20+0
  • The two teams with the most matchpoints (see Points System below) move on to the Final

Final

  • The top two teams from the Preliminary Stage compete in a best-of-two set of matches
  • The team that wins the most match points is the champion

Match Scores

Teams earn game points according to each of the team’s game results to determine who wins a match. The team with the most cumulative game points wins the match. Before a match starts, a coin toss determines which team will have the choice of color.

  • 4 game points for winning a game with Black.
  • 3 game points for winning a game with White.
  • 1 game point for a draw.
  • 0 game points for a loss.

Teams earn match points according to the result of each individual match, which determines the final standings of the Preliminary Stage.

  • 3 match points for winning a match
  • 1 match point for drawing match
  • 0 match points for losing a match
